Bio

Previously, I was the lead developer for CodeFund, an open source platform that helped fund maintainers, bloggers, and builders through non-tracking ethical advertisements. CodeFund was forced to shutdown in July, 2020.

I began my development career at The N2 Company, which was then known as N2 Publishing, before joining CodeFund. I started as a full time software developer immediately after graduating; my very first role at the company was actually as a graphic design intern in college. I also worked at Realvolve, a real estate CRM and workflow platform, for a few months after CodeFund shutdown before finally returning to N2.

I also co-host Remote Ruby with Chris Oliver and Jason Charnes, a weekly podcast featuring conversations and interviews about Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and web development. Find more about my podcasting career as well as my interviews on my podcasts page.

When I’m not at work, podcasting, or offline, I blog and work on various side projects.

I have ADHD and it’s a big part of what makes me…me. Interestingly, I often have people reach out to bond over this fact, which has encouraged me to talk openly about it. Feel free to contact me if you’re also an ADHD developer and want to chat about it.

I grew up in small-town North Carolina, and graduated from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in Computer Science. When I’m offline, I enjoy surfing, reading, and graphic design.

You can find me on Twitter, where I share resources I’ve found, talk about Ruby, and post memes. GitHub is where I’m building in the open and contributing to open source.
